PROFILE

WHO
I AM

I'm Nico. I was born in Québec City in 2008. My mum is from Bogotá, and my dad is half Colombian, half Italian, with family roots in Naples. Football came from him: we watched every Millonarios game together. Today I'm a left-footed attacking midfielder. I like to find space between the lines, move the ball quickly and run into the box to finish the play. I left home at 16 to chase this, and now I play in Italy.

HOW I PLAY

44 M DIAGONAL PASSA long diagonal pass with my left foot to switch the play to the other side.

ESCAPING PRESSUREI turn out of the press and switch the play with a long pass.

FAR-POST CROSSA diagonal left-foot cross to the second post.

FEINT, ROULETTE, KEY PASSA fake pass and a roulette to get free, then a key pass in the box.

01 · WHAT I LIKE TO DOFind space between the lines, look around before the ball reaches me and pass quickly, short or long. I like switching the play with a long left-foot pass, beating one or two players on the dribble and running into the box to finish the move.

02 · WHAT I'M WORKING ONWinning physical duels, finishing and my right foot.

03 · PLAYERS I WATCHJames Rodríguez: a left-footed 10, like me. He has been my idol since I was little, and I’ve always followed his steps.

ITALY

ARSQ · QUÉBEC REGION

THREE COUNTRIESCanada, the Netherlands and Italy in under two years. I moved to Maastricht alone, and it took me about a month and a half to settle with new teammates, new coaches and a new style of play. My rule is to adapt without losing my own game. Now I share a house with teammates in Italy.

FIVE LANGUAGESSpanish and French at home, English and Italian every day, and Dutch from my time in Maastricht.

SCHOOLI keep studying alongside football. In Maastricht I passed my school year by distance learning.

WHERE IT STARTEDWatching Millonarios with my dad. He passed his love of the game on to me.

COLOMBIAI’ve been three times. Bandeja paisa, empanadas and arepas are still my favourite food, even if my mum changed her cooking when I started following the club’s nutrition plan.

A MESSAGE I KEEPI once wrote to Iván Ramiro Córdoba. He answered with a video, telling me to keep training, never give up and always look for my opportunity.

THE GOAL I REMEMBERMessi’s free kick against Liverpool, Champions League semi-final, 2019.

MY DREAMWinning the Champions League.

AWAY FROM FOOTBALLVideo games.

WORDS I KEEP

CAREER

QUÉBEC
TO ITALY

2026/27

Città di Anagni · ItalyJuniores Nazionale, Girone H. Number 10. Called up to first-team training in August, then scored on my first start on 23 September in a 3–0 win over Latina.

2025–26

MVV Maastricht academy · NetherlandsAcademy U19, 5e Divisie champions in 2026 (MVV announcement). I started with the U17s in January 2025, mostly as an 8 (3 goals, 4 assists and 8 key passes in 9 matches), then moved up to the U19s as a 10. What struck me first was how professional everything was: a stadium for over 10,000 people, a full staff and a 90-page pre-season plan covering training and nutrition. I left home at 16, lived in Maastricht and studied remotely.
